There are many STD's spread through oral sex, herpes and HPV viruses that cause the venereal wart or just two of the more prevalant ones.
Sometimes, however, infections on the face may result from HSV-2 and visa versa since the virus is transmitted through mucous membranes, be it saliva or liquids produced on intercourse. Therefore, prevention steps should include avoiding kissing, sharing drinking utensils, and practicing safe sex.

HSV is the cause of blisters that appear either on the face or genitals and are accompanied by redness and swelling, itching, burning, pain, and fever. HSV type 1 is usually responsible for facial infections, whereas HSV type 2 is the common cause of blisters on the genitals.
