Genital Herpes And Oral Sex
Genital herpes and oral sex is not advisable when symptoms are present, and can sometimes be confused with vaginosis and vaginitis.
Both types of the virus are transmitted through infected mucous membranes and are easy to catch. People having an outbreak should restrain from sexual relations, as they may be the source of the infection. An outbreak lasts for a week or two.

Lesions on the penis and vagina are peculiar signs of the condition that is usually caused by HSV-2. HSV-1 is a common cause of cold sores, yet can also lead to lesions on the penis and vagina (in about 20% of all cases). Genital herpes and oral sex is not advisable when symptoms are present, and can sometimes be confused with vaginosis and vaginitis.
